Paradera
Paradera is the middle of the island, around the Hooiberg hill and the Ayo and Casibari rock formations. It is residential and Aruban, with larger plots, newer houses and prices well below the coast, about fifteen minutes from both Oranjestad and the beaches.
What to know
Living in Paradera
Paradera sits between Oranjestad and Santa Cruz, with the Hooiberg — the cone-shaped hill you see from everywhere — in the middle of it. The Ayo and Casibari boulders are here too. There is no coast.
This is where many Aruban families build: cunucu plots of a few hundred square metres, houses with a carport and a garden, neighbourhoods like Tanki Leendert, Piedra Plat, Bloemond and Nuñe. For a buyer it means more house for the money and a quieter street; for a renter it means a fifteen-minute drive to the beach in one direction and to town in the other.
