Noord
Noord is the north-west of the island: Palm Beach and Eagle Beach, the hotel strip, and the residential streets behind them from Malmok down to Bubali and Sabana Liber. It is where most overseas buyers look first, and where prices are highest.
What to know
Living in Noord
Noord runs from the California lighthouse at the tip of the island down to the edge of Oranjestad. The beaches everyone has seen pictures of — Palm Beach, Eagle Beach, Arashi, Malmok — are all here, and so are the high-rise hotels, the restaurants and the supermarkets that serve them.
Behind the coast the district is residential: gated communities like Gold Coast, Palma Real and Opal, single houses on cunucu land in Bubali, Sabana Liber and Kudawecha, and apartments within cycling distance of the beach. Vacation-rental demand is strongest here, which is why investors ask for Noord and why it costs more than anywhere else on Aruba.
A car is useful but not essential close to the strip; further inland it is.
